For more than 35 years, Northeast Passage (NEP), a nonprofit program of the University of New Hampshire’s College of Health and Human Services, has been changing lives through innovative recreational therapy and adaptive sports programs for individuals of all abilities.
As part of our commitment to teaching and education, we offer Similarity Awareness programming in schools and communities to foster a culture that is inclusive of everyone. Similarity Awareness provides an integrated opportunity for all students to explore the similarities we share, regardless of ability, through participation in activities and discussion.
The goal of this program is for students to experience and learn:
- We are all more similar than we are different.
- Our differences make us unique, and our similarities bring us together.
- Sport is sport; adaptive sport is sport; athletes with disabilities are athletes; people with disabilities are people; people are people.
